Inside the New Era of Motive Training

What I’ve Been Building Since Opening Motive Training ATX
A lot has changed since I first told my story.
Back then, I was juggling multiple locations, training full-time, and doing everything I could to keep the business running. But the more we grew, the more I realized I needed to take a step back—not to work less, but to work smarter.
Here’s what I’ve been working on behind the scenes—and why it’s changed the way we train at Motive.
I Opened Motive Training ATX (and Brought the Mission to Austin)
When I moved to Austin, I knew I wanted to build something intentional—something that lived up to the core idea behind our name: Move With Purpose.
Motive Training ATX started as a small, focused studio in South Austin. There are no gimmicks or fluff. It’s just real coaching rooted in assessment, education, and execution.
The goal wasn’t to scale up. It was to go deeper—to refine the coaching, elevate the training experience, and build a gym that fully embodied the systems I believe in.
I Sold Motive Grand Rapids to Tighten the Brand and Focus
Motive GR will always be where it started. But as I spent more time in Austin, it became clear that trying to run two locations across the country wasn’t sustainable—or aligned with my vision anymore.
I sold the Grand Rapids location to realign the brand and bring the focus back to one thing: building the most purpose-driven personal training studio possible here in Austin.
Now, everything we do is built around that central idea—clear coaching, consistent messaging, and a team that trains the Motive way.
I Doubled Down on Real Movement Coaching
Fitness is full of noise. Flashy workouts. Random programming. Shiny promises with zero follow-through.
That’s never been us.
At Motive, we train people to move—not just harder but better. We assess every client, track progress, and use Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) as the backbone of our work—not just in theory but in practice.
If your shoulder doesn’t rotate, we address it.
If your hips are stiff, we work on them—first.
If you’re in pain, we don’t just train around it. We dig in and help you fix it.
This level of attention isn’t common in most gyms. But that’s the point. We’re not most gyms.
We Run Real KINSTRETCH Classes—In-Person and Online
One of the biggest game changers for us has been the growth of KINSTRETCH.
We run live KINSTRETCH classes every week—small, hands-on, and built around improving how your joints move and feel. As of now, we’re the only gym in Austin offering true, certified KINSTRETCH classes in person.
We also launched KINSTRETCH Online, so you can train from anywhere. It’s not some generic stretching program—it’s a joint-specific, science-backed method for improving mobility and strength where it matters most.
If you’ve taken a class, you already know how different it feels. If you haven’t, now’s the time.
We Integrated WeckMethod to Push the Edge of Human Movement
Over the last year, I’ve added a new layer to how we approach athleticism: WeckMethod and Rotational Movement Training.
Rope flow, coiling core drills, and rotational mechanics have become part of our system—not because they look cool, but because they restore timing, balance, rhythm, and spatial awareness.
FRC gives you structure and control. WeckMethod adds creativity, fluidity, and natural athletic expression. Combined, they help people move better in the gym and in life.
We’ve taught clients how to flow, twist, shift, and coordinate in ways they haven’t felt in years—and often, for the first time ever.
The Mission Hasn’t Changed—But the Execution Has Leveled Up
We still believe in personalized coaching.
We still believe in pain-free training.
We still believe joint health, mobility, and strength should be trained together—not separately.
But now we’re doing it with more clarity, more tools, and more purpose than ever before.
